The Shape of Things to Come

Updated: Mar 23

In 1933, Herbert George Wells wrote another seminal science fiction book titled, The Shape of Things to Come, about what he thought the future world would look like in the year 2106. Of note, he predicted a coming world war, the rise and superiority of airpower and space travel, the abolishment of religion, holography, smart devices, helicopters, and a great deal of many other things. While HG Wells had some predictions come true (World War II, the aerial bombings of cities, etc.) his vision also had some major blunders as well. He envisioned the abolishment of Islam by 1979, as well as the ultimate dissolution of Roman Catholicism, the collective rise of all humanity (no underclasses), and the embracement of global government (the world state). Unlike Wells’ utopian literary work, Aldous Huxley’s dystopian Brave New World (1931), envisioned a much darker and more hierarchical future for mankind. Despite their differences, they both echo a similar thought by Georg Hegel (of the Hegelian Dialectic fame) regarding the individual versus the state.

“…the State ‘has the supreme right against the individual, whose supreme duty is to be a member of the State… for the right of the world spirit is above all special privileges.'” Author/historian William Shirer, quoting Georg Hegel, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (1959, page 144) (Source)

This idea of the state being supreme over the individual seems to harken back to earlier times of monarchial rule. The difference now is, one was not born into power and elitism while being protected by their armies; the power now is created by elected officials and is shielded by its bureaucracies. Nevertheless, time marched onward and various forms of governments rose and fell against an ever-changing backdrop of modernization. Wars and rumors of wars abounded, and by the turn of the 20th century, the modernized world was racing headfirst into its first, global conflict. The results of this first conflict were clearly connected to the advent of the second global conflict, as well as the third. The summaries are as follows:

1. World War I began on 28 July 1914, and ended on 11 November 1918, and killed more than 16 million people (military and civilian).

Causes: Militarism, national alliances, imperialism, nationalism, and the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand

Results: Collapse of the Ottoman and Austrian empires, Russian Revolution, Balfour Declaration (Jewish repatriation to the homeland), and the creation of the League of Nations

2. World War II officially began in September 1939, and officially ended on 2 September 1945 (Japan’s official surrender). Historians estimate 60-80 million people killed during this conflict.

Causes: Versailles Treaty, Great Depression, weak League of Nations, the rise of German and Italian Fascism, and Japanese Imperialism

Results: Collapse of British and French colonial empires, Chinese civil war, United Nations formed, the rebirth of national Israel, Iron Curtain, and the Cold War

3. The Cold War began in 1947 after an uneasy alliance between the western allies and Stalin’s Soviet Union began to unravel. It ended in December 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed.

Official estimates, which include revolutions, uprisings, and proxy wars fought to either promote or limit the advance of Communism (Chinese Civil War, Korea, Vietnam, Hungary, Afghanistan, etc.) put the unofficial death toll around 30 million.

Causes: Soviet resistance to the Marshall Plan, Communist expansion “Red Tide,” Chinese civil war, the collapse of European colonialism

Results: Nuclear arms race, the Space race, proxy wars fought to contain/expand communism, the rise of espionage and intelligence technologies, intense push for globalism

4. World War III?

Geopolitical Assessment

History says that the west won the three major conflicts of the 20th-century, and yet, they have not said what we lost in the process. Aside from the generations of men and women who perished in these wars, the loss of national sovereignty was far more detrimental than any victories gained.

Since the end of World War II, the threat of a new global war weighed heavily on the minds of western world leaders. The prospect terrified men like Churchill, de Gaulle, Roosevelt, Truman, Marshall, and many others. Having learned from their previous mistakes, such as with the Versailles Treaty and the League of Nations, they decided that instituting a new global institution was necessary to maintain future peace.

This new institution was designed to be the final arbiter between nations so they could resolve their differences peacefully. There is even a statue in front of it, a gift from the then Soviet Union (1959) depicting a man beating a sword into a plowshare. However, in order to force this change, this new institution would need to have both the legal and economic power to prop up its political authority. This new institution was called, the United Nations (UN), and was heavily funded/supported by those who truly believed that a centrist global government, serving as the third way (as opposed to pure capitalism or pure communism), would be able to effectively solve all the world’s issues.

However, the UN was not without its detractors. Many believed this new authority was not only a gross assault against national sovereignty, but it looked an awful lot like what Wells and Huxley had previously envisioned in their science fiction books. Furthermore, with each new subsequent treaty and political alliance, the UN began to resemble alarmingly more of what the Bible outlined some 2,000 years ago in the book of Revelation in regards to the final world government.

However, for its promoters (Rockefellers, Roosevelts, et. al) the potential of another world war justified any government overreach and was worth the risk. Their supposed goal at the time was to prevent another world war from ever happening again. As of late, the UN's agenda seems to bordering on depopulation, terraforming the planet, and implementing some new, Great Reset. Nevertheless, in the 1940s and 1950s, UN membership exploded as it was able to capitalize on the break up of the former European colonial empires, with many newly liberated, ex-colonial nation-states eager to join to cement their new government’s legitimacy.

The question remains as to whether this endeavor was successful or not? Did it “keep the peace?”

  • No. As soon as WWII ended, we entered into a forty-year global conflict called the Cold War which pitted two national superpowers against each other in a series of bloody asymmetric proxy wars.

But did it prevent another massive “World War II” type war?

  • Yes. But it created something far more terrifying than war in the process; global government.

But was UN happenstance? Was this (the way the world has been since) all coincidental? Was this just the way things were meant to turn out?

  • No. When we look back over the 20th-century from a macro perspective, we can see with perfect hindsight how the world events (crisis) canalized the world leaders into moving their nations in a single direction; toward the creation of a one-world government. However, this one-world government (UN) has not yet truly been born yet. It has long laid dormant, waiting for two things to happen- the dissolution of the United States, and the Rapture of the Church.

Spiritual Assessment

Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” Luke 4:5-7 (my emphasis)

From 1919 until today, every attempt to bring the world under a single system has failed. It has failed, because God had placed the United States in a unique position to prevent it from happening before its time. Call it divine providence or whatever, the fact remains that the US has remained a bulwark against it in the last days. Not only does our Constitution prevent us from ever entering into such foreign entanglements, but our economic and military power also convinced us we didn’t need to either. This is why the League of Nations failed. This is why, to date, the United Nations has failed/ is failing. We are the single greatest impediment to a one-world government. This is why the United States must collapse or be defeated either before or after the Rapture of the Church.

In terms of directing the affairs of mankind, many around the world genuinely believe the UN to be led by a benevolent group of altruistic leaders, simply trying to do right by the planet by promoting agendas like sustainable development. However, this trust is misplaced. Even if one were more skeptical, and simply see the UN as a cabal of scheming men and women, trying to implement their socialist agendas, this angst as well is misplaced. Neither the good nor the bad, are in the authoritative positions they think they are to guide our affairs.

From the dawn of human history, there has been another “league” of beings nefariously guiding the affairs of mankind. Modern “experts” simply dismiss this idea as ludicrous since they can’t physically see them. And yet, these experts continue to parrot and echo poisonous ideas that are so incongruous to both reality and normalcy, they fight against the very notion that events follow the natural course of history. This shadowy league of fallen angels, led by the Devil himself, are driving the affairs of unredeemed men. Since unredeemed men and women have and are largely the powerholders in most nations (and throughout history), it’s clear to see how easily manipulated these leaders can be used to achieve demonic objectives.

When we look back on men like Lening, Hitler, and Stalin and see them now as being the epitome of evil (antichrists), we do so primarily, because of the things they did in their lifetimes. However, at the time, these men were often admired for their leadership and economic prowess, even achieving the cult of personality status as well as appearing on such vanities as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. Decades later, their rise and fall are scrutinized by modern critics, who act, as if, were they alive then, would have seen things with such clarity. They ignore the fact that the present, in every age, has a mystifying way of obscuring the obvious.

The Devil knew at the end of all the horrific chaos of World War II, mankind would finally have arrived back to a “Tower of Babel” moment and would demand unity. The reason was so overtly obvious that even the anti-globalist skeptics would be hard-pressed to not accept this new world order, to prevent such atrocities like a world war, the holocaust, and the use of atomic weapons from ever happening again. That was the Devil’s end game, and that is exactly what happened in the end and why the world is the way it is today.

In fact, the national/ global consensus is one of Satan’s tell-tale signs that he is behind the initiative, and it always results in less individual freedom and more state control. In fact, it only ever goes in the direction towards totalitarianism. Recent examples of this type of forced acceptance were the 2001 Patriot Act (shortly after 9/11), the normalization of the LGBTQ+ agenda, cancel culture, wokism, and the 2020-21 COVID-19 global shutdown. None of these empower the individual, but rather, empower the state, which only equals more totalitarian control. These are all simply cogs in the globalist wheel.

So the way the world is today is not all happenstance. It has been carefully crafted and constructed to achieve one end - global government. So which did we arrive at? HG Wells’ utopic future paradise, or Huxley’s dystopic brave new world?

Actually, we arrived at what the Bible described as the things to come. The Bible clearly lays out not just the what, why, and how, it also lays out the who and when. There is a one-world system coming, headed by the Antichrist, and will gain control over the entire earth (politically, economically, and religiously) for seven years (Rev. 6:1-2, 13, 16, 17, 18). If we understand that has to happen, then we simply look at what is actually happening in the here and now, we can see how the Hegelian Dialectic was designed to get us to demand global totalitarianism.

  • Thesis (Problem) – The Devil needs mankind under a one-world government to implement total control by his man, the Antichrist

  • Antithesis (Reaction) – The Devil creates the necessary geopolitical conditions upon which demonically influenced agents of chaos (e.g., Lenin, Mussolini, Hitler, Tojo, Osama bin Laden, etc.) could rise up and generate the turmoil necessary for the world to react against

  • Synthesis (Solution) – after the crisis, the world governments unite under a single government (UN) to prevent such conflict from ever happening again

Goal achieved. Well, sort of.

Conclusion

While nobody has ever accused the UN of either being efficient, or effective, they have been busy pushing their idealistic, socialist, utopic agendas. Nevertheless, Satan is a clever devil. Perhaps he didn’t need the UN to be a picture of bureaucratic perfection in the decades leading up to today; he simply needed the infrastructure in place for the right future crisis to come along (similar to how quickly the Patriot Act magically appeared two months after 9/11 happened). Satan had spent the better part of 80 years crafting this globalist coalition to be ready for the right crisis to come along, and he has come too far now to allow anyone to upset the apple cart.

Thus, another tell-tale sign that Satan has firmly committed to this form of new world order, was the collective way every globalist elite came after a nationalist like Donald Trump when he unexpectedly won the 2016 presidential election. From that moment, Trump faced a daily onslaught of often overwhelming and completely unhinged attacks by nearly everyone, except the average American, throughout his presidency. They even have a name for this, Trump Derangement Syndrome (or TDS). This is also why 80 million votes were summarily dismissed out of hand to conduct the November -January 2020 democrat/deep state coup d'état to remove him from office.

Facts didn’t matter. The truth didn’t matter. The popular vote didn’t matter. The destruction of the nation didn’t matter. All that mattered was that Trump was removed from office. This kind of derangement (similar to Antisemitism in that it lacks any sense or reason), has Satan’s fingerprints all over it. As I noted in a previous article (Last Trump Rapture), the fact that scores of politicians, elected officials, non-elected bureaucrats, heads of state, governors, and others, openly broke the law to commit treason, and boasted ahead of time about it, only did so because they knew they would never be prosecuted for committing such heinous deeds.

For the record, there will be no “World War III,” as we think of it, primarily, because Satan has no need for one- he has the world where it to be. The Bible predicts three more major conflicts in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead: The rider on the red horse, the Gog-Magog invasion of Israel, and Armageddon. At present, all Satan needs right now, is for the United States to be knocked off the top of the geopolitical food chain, (which will happen due to the Rapture) and then he can activate his new global government called the Beast (Revelation 13).

While the UN is not presently the Beast, she is laying the framework and foundations for this Beast system. It has the global infrastructure in place to assume this form of authoritative control in the absence of a United States. Similarly, the Roman Catholic Church (the harlot) is also globally prepositioned to assume such religious leadership, in the absence of the Church after the Rapture. At present, neither is in any real position of power and yet, the Rapture will fundamentally change the dynamics and thrust these two into accepting their new roles. This is why Satan is aggressively prepositioning his principalities, powers, and rulers of darkness to be in the right place at the right time (i.e. at the Pre-Tribulation Rapture). You can bet your bottom dollar that Satan already has The Antichrist and the False Prophet in positions of authority (somewhere) who can assume the reigns when things begin to fall apart.

It is my opinion that the Rapture will be the greatest disruption to human affairs since the Noahic Flood. It will intentionally and internationally thrust the world into such a state of chaos that world leaders, under the panic-driven influence of Satan, will race to throw off the shackles of national authority and autonomy and unite regionally without hesitation. This regional confederation will ultimately be headed by one man, The Antichrist, who will appear out of the chaos like a "white knight" who will lead with clarity and confidence. However, his altruism is only skin deep, and his true motivations of assuming power will make his shrewd, calculating, political maneuvers effective power grabs. Since Satan is in the position to give his authority away, he will give his full, political, and spiritual backing to whoever becomes this Antichrist. The viciousness of this man will make all those totalitarian leaders before him, pale in comparison.

This time, they will remove all obstructions and limitations that had previously repressed this type of united government. Of course, the Rapture will collapse an already shaky American market, which will throw the world’s economy into a tailspin. This economic collapse will force world leaders to quickly abandon their national currencies and adopt a new form of bio-digital money, which will link loyalty to this new government in the form of buying power and privileges.

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. Revelation 13:16-18

Prophetic Theorycrafting

In the spirit of Wells's science fiction book, The Shape of Things to Come, I have my thoughts about the future. I believe this is the decade of our Lord’s return. Call it a hunch or just a gut feeling, I just think too many “point of no return” redlines have been or are being crossed to ever go back to the way things were. It’s like a bell, once rung, cannot be unrung. While I’ve resisted jumping on board 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017, etc. rapture bandwagons, I do feel the convergence of certain things strongly signals the end of our age. I tend to lean toward Don Koenig’s timeline of a Rapture around 2025 (link at bottom).

As a sharp-eyed reader recently pointed out, if Trump makes another reelection campaign run, and wins, as miraculous as that would be, and the Rapture occurred in this second, disconnected term, it would in fact be a “Last Trump Rapture” (as opposed to his first term). As for the Rapture being sooner, rather than later, my reasons for thinking this, tend to be focused more on the major game-changers, which, like the invention of gunpowder, the atom bomb, or the internet, their arrival cannot be reversed or undone.

One could argue that mankind could either adapt or die to these monumental changes, however, the Bible describes mankind arriving at (but not going beyond) a certain level of technological advancement. In other words, the Bible makes no mention of us colonizing the moon or other planets, or conducting time travel. The technology the Bible does speak about, we are there now. Not only that, but the problems described in prophetic passages like Ezekiel 38-39, Matthew 24, and Luke 21’s birth pangs, are now, not later.

While I am not inclined to link the Rapture as signs of the birth pangs themselves, they are indicative of the season we are now in (i.e., the season of His return). As I mentioned earlier, we should not allow the present to blind us to the obvious serious signs going on today. For those who would say to my thoughts about the nearness of the Rapture, “no man knows the day or hour,” I would agree with them. Just as I can’t know when it will happen, they (the detractors) can’t know when it won’t. It works both ways. Anyway, here is my list of game-changers that I feel, signal the soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1. Technological advancements. Developments in quantum technologies, digital cryptocurrencies, genetic manipulation, bio-technologies (putting tech into the human body), and artificial intelligence are rapidly changing how the world at large functions. Each of these in their own right is extremely significant to the coming Beast government. We are at that point now when these are no longer theoretical but are being aggressively implemented into our present systems.

2. The Laodicean state of the churches. Most of the mainstream Protestant denominations have already rolled over to the liberal progressive agenda. Still, there were a couple of strongholds left, who held the line until recently. The Southern Baptist Convention (the national organization), has decided to go woke, which will cause many to break from the national organization, and further weaken/dissolve the last great evangelical denomination in America.

3. Population busts. Depopulation is occurring in numerous nations around the world at a frightening rate. Westernized nations have entered into the death-spiral rate of non-recovery (when births drop below 2.1 children per woman) in replenishing their native populations. Not to be outdone, western progressives (Gates Foundation, WHO, etc.) have been pushing contraception, abortion, and sterilization efforts to many of the poorer developing nations. According to population studies done by the Roman Catholic Church, no nation has survived dropping below this 2.1 threshold. The leaders of these nations know this, which might explain why some are aggressively making geopolitical moves to secure their future posterities in light of this fact.

4. Economic calamity. It is no secret that the United States has been and is the dominant economic player in the world today. She is closely followed by China and the European Union in regard to economic strength. However, much of the world’s collective economy is based on the strength of the US dollar. With the US being nearly $30T in debt (borrowing against our future generations), the US has entered into a point of no return from which it cannot dig itself out (fiscally speaking). At some point, the bills will come due, and our currency will be rendered worthless. This will force us to join whatever becomes the new global digital currency.

5. Israel’s enemies. Israel’s enemies are at their wit's end. I mean that very literally. They’ve tried war. They’ve tried terrorism. They’ve tried political bullying and propaganda campaigns. Nothing seems to be working. To add insult to injury, we have the promising Abraham Accords which are dismantling the collective Arab (and Sunni) alliance against Israel. At present, Iran is trying to take advantage of this division. However, I think this is a limited-time offer, which, will fit in nicely with a Gog-Magog scenario of Sheba and Dedan protesting against the Gog coalition’s intent to invade the Holy Land. Before the Abraham Accords went public, Saudi Arabia (and her acolytes) would have never protested against another invading her sworn enemy.

We are in the season of our Lord's return. For those attentive Christians, watching this time of signs, there is a collective agreeance in our spirit that we are on the verge of deliverance. We can't point to any one particular thing, and say, see here, this means this day or that. Rather, we are watching these things unfold like Gabriel told Daniel they would, as a flood (Dan. 9:26). There are so many things happening concurrently, it is enough to either drive one to madness or rapturous bliss, depending on how you understand it. For those who do not understand or study prophecy, these are fearful days to live. For those who do, know our deliverance is at the door. Thus, we should help prepare those by sharing the good news of our Lord's soon return. They will likely not accept it, but at the very least, they will remember it when it does come to pass.

Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. James 5:7-8

Believing Ephesians 6:12 about Satan’s part in the affairs of the world (for all six thousand years of history) is a course correction in Biblical thinking that changes so many things. A Christian sister and I are inclined to often say, ‘back it up, back it up.’ What is the genesis of this or that particular event, in the Bible, in history, or the world today? When you take the long distance view of Satan’s end game, and plans, and his (temporary) authority it can clarify where it stemmed from, and where it’s headed, and often even includes the crucial why questions. It puts the players in a different light, and frankly, makes it much easier for me to forgive…

I guess we better include Orwell's 1945 classic Animal Farm to this essay. America is the Farm. Trump was Farmer Jones that all the animals thought they needed to be free from. They ran him off and the new mandate of "all animals are free but some animals are more free than others" applies to America today. God help us until the Rapture.

My thoughts align with yours, Where we are different is that I did fall for 2012 as a Year for the rapture. Now like you I feel mid 20ties is a prime time for Rapture. Interesting thing you said about the last trump being Trump getting elected. We can only hope! You are a gifted writer and teacher...The Lord took Jack K. Then you rose up. Keep it up!

Nothing wrong with holding out hope for particular times, we just can’t remain wedded to them. I think the proper term is to hold them loosely.

I concur with your conclusions. We are in the season of His return. The signs compared to even 10 years ago are staggering. A true convergence of them all. A confusing time-excited to see scripture come alive but heartbreaking the state of the world. I am continually surprised HOW the Lord manipulates to an expected outcome-not the outcome itself. Maranatha.
